This video shows how to associate a TFS work item ID with a changeset. By specifying a work item ID in the commit message, it can be associated or resolved. The same implementation goes for TFS on-premise as well as for the Visual Studio Team Services. After associating a work item, you can check the changeset history and verify that the appropriate TFS work item is successfully referenced.
